Human-AI interaction and collaboration (HAC) has become an emerging important topic in both academia and industry, and ample opportunities exist for high-impact research, education, industry collaboration, and entrepreneurship in this area.

The uniqueness for this effort arises from the rapidly growing needs for co-design and co-optimization of HAC paradigms in which humans and AI better collaborate to achieve a desired task. To the best of our knowledge, there are few such centers at present, but HAC is receiving intensive attention, as demonstrated by the many government and industry invested funding opportunities that are currently available.

Washington University is already at the forefront of this convergence and synergy as evident from existing and pending collaborative research projects.
